Surge, unlike ESD and EFT, has a longer period and a higher power. Surge pulses arise from direct or indirect lightning strikes, as well as power system switching transients caused by the switching of inductive loads or short circuits. These occurrences result in currents or electromagnetic fields that generate high voltage or current transients. The magnitude of energy involved is particularly substantial, and the impact on products can be highly destructive. To assess the performance of devices subjected to these high-energy disturbances from power line and signal line ports, a lightning surge generator is employed. Our surge generators effectively simulate these disturbances at all necessary voltage levels in accordance with the IEC/EN 61000-4-5 standard.
